If you’re looking to disassemble your ceiling fan motor, it’s important to make sure you have the right tools and know-how. For starters, you’ll need a Phillips-head screwdriver, needle-nose pliers, and a wrench. You’ll also need some patience as the process can be tricky!
Start by unplugging the fan and removing the light kit and blade arms, if present. Then, unscrew the screws holding the motor housing and separate it from the mounting bracket. Next, remove any decorative pieces that are covering access to the inside of the motor housing.
Inside you should find a fan-blade hub attached to the outer shaft, and a motor-shaft bearing attached to the inner shaft. Unscrew the nut that holds these two pieces together. This will allow you to remove both the hub and bearing from the motor housing.
Finally, use your Phillips screwdriver to unscrew any additional screws on the motor itself. Once all of these screws are removed, the motor should be able to be pulled out of the housing.
With the fan disassembled, you are now ready to repair or replace any faulty components. Make sure to reassemble your 3 blade ceiling fan before use! With proper care and maintenance, your ceiling fan motor should last for years to come.
